Softball Recap: Maryvale Takes a Loss

Maryvale lost against Browne last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Panthers fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by just one run.

Isabel Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Lilliana Mudge made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Maryvale's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Browne, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maryvale will welcome Cibola at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Browne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cesar Chavez at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
