Basketball Recap: Elijah Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chesnee over Liberty

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Chesnee can now relate to. They fell just short of the Liberty Red Devils by a score of 54-52 on Friday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Chesnee's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Brown, who shot 60% from the field en route to 20 points along with six assists and three steals. Brown has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. Ben Reese was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points.

Kendrick Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Liberty, shooting 54% from the field on his way to 20 points and five assists. Jackson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kendall Jackson, who went 5-for-6 en route to 16 points.

Chesnee's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season.

Chesnee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-44 victory against Central on the 26th.
