Soccer Recap: Troy Takes a Loss

Despite a strong season so far, Troy has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They lost 5-1 to the Villa Park Spartans on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Spartans are ranked 55th).

Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5-4. As for Villa Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2-3 record this season.

Troy has already played their next match (against Crean Lutheran), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Villa Park will square off against Brea Olinda at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brea Olinda is on a four-game streak of home wins, Villa Park a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch.
