Hamilton suffers third straight loss on the road

Recap: Hamilton Wildcats vs. Bluff City Gray Wolves

This season hasn't been kind to the Hamilton Wildcats, who are still winless after their fifth match. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bluff City. While losing is never fun, Hamilton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Bluff City is ranked 150th).

Amare Boothe and Kamyiah Jones certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Boothe dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Jones dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Boothe scored a full 53.6% of Hamilton's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Hamilton struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bluff City racked up 11.

Bluff City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lakeva Applewhite, who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. The contest was Applewhite's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Asya Wood, who scored 16 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds.

Hamilton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Bluff City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will take on Bluff City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bluff City, they will be playing at home against Raleigh-Egypt at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
