Baseball Recap: Nichols Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Maryvale typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Nichols proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Flyers. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Flyers: they've now won three in a row.

Trenton Ruffolo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Derek McIntyre was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Nichols' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Maryvale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.

Nichols wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against St. Mary's on the 16th. As for Maryvale, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-7 win against Iroquois on the 19th.
