Softball Game Preview: Cathedral City Lions vs. Desert Mirage RAMS

Cathedral City is 9-1 against Desert Mirage since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the RAMS at 4:00 p.m. Cathedral City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Cathedral City is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 36 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Rancho Mirage on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to the Rattlers. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Rattlers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Sayuri Toledo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cathedral City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Estrella Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Desert Mirage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 36-23 to Cathedral City. On the bright side, the 23- run effort marked the RAMS' highest-scoring match to date.

Cathedral City's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Desert Mirage, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything went Cathedral City's way against Desert Mirage in their previous meeting on Monday, as Cathedral City made off with a 36-23 win. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the RAMS turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
