Softball Recap: Covington's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Covington came into Monday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the North Vermillion Falcons on Monday. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 13-12 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alexus Peaslee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Covington got a massive performance out of Preslee Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Sutherlin, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Covington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Covington's record now sits at 8-14. As for North Vermillion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

Covington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
