Baseball Recap: Kentlake Drops Highest Score of Season Against Federal Way

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kentlake). They were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over the Federal Way Eagles on Monday. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Kentlake got a great performance from Matthew Ledbetter as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Ledbetter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Christopher Moore was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Lynch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Kentlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.

The win was the third in a row for Kentlake, bringing their record up to 6-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Federal Way, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Kentlake beat the Eagles by a score of 9-0 on Tuesday.
