Baseball Game Preview: Menard Yellowjackets vs. Medina Bobcats

Menard is 1-9 against Medina since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yellowjackets will welcome the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Menard took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Leakey get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Medina and Leakey, and Medina kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats blew past the Eagles 16-4 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly 12 runs.

Holland Cook was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Medina got a massive performance out of Jaxon Kunz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Kunz a new career-high. Anthony Silva was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Medina's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Menard, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
