Basketball Recap: Dawson School Comes Up Short

Dawson School fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Dayspring Christian Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Dawson School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Milo Richtel posted 22 points. Richtel has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trey Larsen, who scored seven points and nine rebounds.

Leading Dayspring Christian Academy to victory were Max Krehbiel and Logan Scritchfield. Krehbiel went 6-for-12 en route to 17 points and seven boards, while Scritchfield went 5-for-8 to rack up 12 points. Krehbiel has become a key player for Dayspring Christian Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 5-10 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Dawson School and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season.

Dawson School has already played their next game, a 44-43 loss against Belleview Christian on the 13th. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 45-35 win against Clear Creek on the 13th.
