Preview: The Pinnacle Timberwolves vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils
The Pinnacle Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Fort Lupton Bluedevils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pinnacle is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 15-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, The Pinnacle came up short against KIPP Denver Collegiate and fell 46-38.
Despite the defeat, The Pinnacle had strong showings from Alexis Kohl, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Stephany Sanchez, who scored 15 points. That was a full 39.5% of The Pinnacle's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Fort Lupton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Non Varsity Opponent 64-34 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fort Lupton.
Fort Lupton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaylee Chavez, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Marely Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven steals and six assists.
The Pinnacle's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Fort Lupton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season.
The Pinnacle was dealt a bruising 45-10 loss at the hands of Fort Lupton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can The Pinnacle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
