Softball Recap: Oxbridge Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lake Placid

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oxbridge Academy). They were the clear victor by a 16-7 margin over the Lake Placid Dragons on Friday. The ThunderWolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.

Aby Vital made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Vital was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Ila Trueblood was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Hadley Krasulak also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Oxbridge Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Oxbridge Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. Lake Placid's loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Oxbridge Academy and Lake Placid could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Oxbridge Academy (ranked 103rd) will meet Park Vista (ranked fourth) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Lake Placid will take on Jupiter at 6:00 p.m. on March 17th down 116 places (134 vs. 18).
