Softball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 38 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-21. They came up short against the Crater Comets, falling 15-0. The Millers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Comets from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Crater, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Crater, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Crater's part, Ady Thayer was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Thayer a new career-high. Ally Nottingham was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Springfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
