Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Maclay's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

It's playoff time, and Maclay had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Taylor County Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Noah Chavez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, JR Thompson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Ryder Miller was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Maclay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylor County only posted an OBP of .118.

Maclay has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Maclay nor Taylor County have any future games scheduled.
