In other batting news, Philip Barbour got a massive performance out of Nick Gonzales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Gonzales a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kale Wolfe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Philip Barbour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ritchie County only posted an OBP of .357.
Meanwhile, Lewis County scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Robert C. Byrd, falling 14-2. Minutemen fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Tuesday.
Lewis County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Aman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Aman also put up a run, which was his first of the season.
Philip Barbour's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lewis County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Lewis County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Philip Barbour has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Lewis County, though, as they've been averaging 11.5 hits. Given Philip Barbour's sizable advantage in that area, Lewis County will need to find a way to close that gap.
