Football Game Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. El Camino Real Royals

The Cleveland Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the El Camino Real Royals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland has given up an average of 33.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-21, which was the final score in Cleveland's tilt against Birmingham on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the loss, Cleveland had strong showings from Joseph Hurtado, who rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown, and Julio Avalos, who rushed for 72 yards and one score.

El Camino Real hadn't beaten Granada Hills Charter on the road since October 12, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Royals put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 28-8 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Royals have posted against the Highlanders since October 27, 2017.

El Camino Real's win came from a few key players Cleveland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was AJ Gupta, who picked up 149 receiving yards and one TD.

El Camino Real's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Cleveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Cleveland barely slipped by El Camino Real in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 21-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
