Basketball Recap: Breathitt County Bobcats vs. Morgan County Cougars
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Danville Christian Academy, the Breathitt County Bobcats were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 89-75 victory over Morgan County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Austin Sperry, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Hamilton, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.
Breathitt County's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Morgan County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Breathitt County will challenge the Green Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Morgan County, they will head out on the road to square off against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kentucky (Knott County Central is ranked 55th, while the Cougars are ranked 43rd).
