Spackenkill is 0-4 against Wallkill since May of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Spackenkill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Spackenkill beat Our Lady of Lourdes 8-3.
Katherine Darcy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Gilmore, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cora Polakowski, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Spackenkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Wallkill hadn't done well against Roosevelt recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Presidents. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Wallkill got a massive performance out of Audrey Reeves, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Spackenkill is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Wallkill, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Spackenkill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Wallkill struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
