Baseball Recap: Ysleta Takes a Loss

Ysleta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 15-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.

Angel Flores was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Ysleta's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Ironwood Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Ysleta will take on Sahuaro at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ysleta is facing Sahuaro at the right time seeing as Sahuaro is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will square off against Canutillo at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Canutillo: 4.1, Ironwood Ridge: 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
