Basketball Recap: Wallkill Skates Past Spackenkill with Ease

There's no place like home for Wallkill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 66-22 victory over the Spackenkill Spartans. That looming 66-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Zoe Mesuch continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 for 21 en route to 26 points. Her evening made it 18 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aoife Brady, who posted three points in addition to nine boards, eight assists, and four steals.

Wallkill was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spackenkill only racked up five assists.

Spackenkill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Blythe McQuade, who had 11 points, and Kennedy Bowe, who scored four points. That was a full 50% of Spackenkill's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

The win got Wallkill back to even at 7-7. As for Spackenkill, they moved to 8-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Wallkill will head out to take on Our Lady of Lourdes at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Our Lady of Lourdes will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Wallkill surely won't give up without a fight. As for Spackenkill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-45 win against Ellenville on the 5th.
