Softball Recap: Indianapolis Lutheran Has No Trouble Against Beech Grove

Indianapolis Lutheran lost to Beech Grove back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Saints put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 9-3 win. Considering the Saints have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracie Boggs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zoe Sondag was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Leyla Miller was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Indianapolis Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beech Grove only posted an OBP of .308.

Indianapolis Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Beech Grove, they now have a losing record of 10-11-1.

Coming up, Indianapolis Lutheran will take on Monrovia at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Beech Grove, they will face off against Rushville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
