Baseball Recap: Mcclave Beats Wiley for Their Third Straight Win

McClave had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Wiley on Tuesday. McClave put the hurt on Wiley with a sharp 19-4 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-6 on Tuesday.

Ryan Steinbrunn made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Steinbrunn was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, McClave let Drew Howe and Elijah Solis run wild. Howe scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Solis went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Solis has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Bronniman, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

McClave was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wiley only posted a batting average of .333.

The victory (which was McClave's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.7 runs this season. As for Wiley, they dropped their record down to 0-5-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

McClave wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 14-1 victory against Manzanola on the 28th. As for Wiley, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Granada on the 27th.
