Baseball Recap: Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK Takes a Loss

If Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK was riding high fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Oceanside on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks lost 13-6 to the Long Island Lutheran Crusaders on Saturday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK got a good showing from Dylan McGrath, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Cole Zuckerman was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Hunter Kass also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Long Island Lutheran, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK will venture away from home to square off against Hicksville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Long Island Lutheran, they will challenge Fieldston at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
