Softball Recap: Dodge County Escapes with a Win

Dodge County proved they can win big with a 12-run victory on Wednesday. On Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Dublin Fighting Irish 10-9.

Dodge County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylee Johnson, who went 2-for-3 while logging 3 RBIs and 1 walk. The three RBIs were her most since at least August 6th last year, when she brought in three vs. Dublin.

Dodge County has now won nine of their last 11 games at home. That leaves them at a 4-8 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-4 Jefferson County and 0-4 Southwest (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.7% over those games). As for Dublin, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Dodge County will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bleckley County at 5:30 p.m. As for Dublin, they will head out to challenge Portal at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
