Baseball Recap: Scripps Ranch Comes Up Short

Scripps Ranch extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-16 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Madison Warhawks. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Madison, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Madison's part, they got a great performance from Colin Gallagher as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Gallagher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Leo Wilderman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Scripps Ranch has already played their next game, an 8-0 loss against Point Loma on the 5th. As for Madison, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-3 victory against Mira Mesa on the 5th.
