Truckee has gone 8-2 against Fernley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wolverines will face off against the Vaqueros at 8:30 a.m. Truckee hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Truckee heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Churchill County.

Meanwhile, Fernley made easy work of Elko on Friday and carried off an 18-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vaqueros.

Nikko Pryor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Pryor was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Juliot, who went 3-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Vance Swindlehurst was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Truckee's loss dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Fernley, their win bumped their record up to 13-16-1.

Truckee beat Fernley 9-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
