Baseball Recap: Richford Comes Up Short

Richford extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They lost 14-0 to the Bellows Free Academy Bullets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bullets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 back in April.

As for Bellows Free Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Considering they have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Bellows Free Academy's part, Rylan Muehl and Dylan Sicard made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Muehl pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sicard tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bellows Free Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. At the plate, Muehl went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Sicard went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Garrow, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Billy Sheehan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Richford will face off against Northeastern Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellows Free Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Paine Mountain at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
