Preview: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. Sports Leadership & Management Bulls
Moapa Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Sports Leadership & Management is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Moapa Valley Pirates will take on the Sports Leadership & Management Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Moapa Valley's defense has only allowed 26.7 points per game this season, so Sports Leadership & Management's offense will have their work cut out for them.
In what's become a running theme this season, Moapa Valley gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They breezed by Mater Academy East Las Vegas at home to the tune of 65-37. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-14.
Claire Cox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Haylie Western, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management struggled with assists on Wednesday (Pahrump Valley had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sports Leadership & Management took a serious blow against Pahrump Valley, falling 57-22. Sports Leadership & Management has not had much luck with Pahrump Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Sports Leadership & Management got a solid performance out of Tavara Swonger, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Angelina Pryatel-Camp was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds.
Moapa Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Everything went Moapa Valley's way against Sports Leadership & Management when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as Moapa Valley made off with a 52-30 win.
