Basketball Recap: Oskaloosa Comes Up Short

Oskaloosa lost against Valley Falls back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Oskaloosa Bears were beaten by the Valley Falls Dragons 74-45.

Derrick Harvey and Richie Rockhold certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Harvey went 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds, while Rockhold posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Harvey a new career-high.

Valley Falls' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenten VanHoutan, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Kearney, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Oskaloosa dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Valley Falls, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Oskaloosa will take on McLouth in a holiday battle at on December 17th. As for Valley Falls, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-58 loss against Royal Valley on the 13th.
