After a string of three wins, Southwestern's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 7-3 to the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers. The Piasa Birds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vipers earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Southwestern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Lowis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another was Ike Austin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Southwestern's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Looking ahead, Southwestern will welcome Gillespie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, they will head out on the road to take on Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
