Football Recap: Waldron Spartans vs. Danbury Lakers
Waldron had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They received a blow as they fell 52-36 to the Danbury Lakers. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lakers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
Seth Williams threw for 133 yards and one touchdown. Carmen Kurtz was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards. On the ground, Troy Shamplo rushed for 103 yards and a pair of scores.
Danbury has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Looking ahead, Waldron will welcome Litchfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Danbury, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Stryker at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
