Softball Recap: Ottoville Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paulding, Ottoville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Leipsic Vikings. For the Big Green, this counts as revenge for the 10-3 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Alexis Eickholt made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Eickholt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendall Hohlbein, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Ottoville's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Leipsic, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Ottoville and Leipsic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Big Green (ranked 639th) will meet Lincolnview (ranked 71st) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Leipsic will take on Elmwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (669 vs. 44).
