Softball Game Preview: West Union Dragons vs. Whiteoak Wildcats

West Union hasn't had much luck against Whiteoak recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

West Union is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Peebles, falling 7-1.

West Union saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Ellis, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Whiteoak fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Peebles on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 7-6. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.

Kylee Ruark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Oakley Engle, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Whiteoak's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for West Union, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
