Football Game Preview: Corbin Redhounds vs. Harlan County Black Bears

For the first time this season, Corbin will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Harlan County Black Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Corbin is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Corbin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Johnson Central, who was ranked third at the time (Corbin was ranked 22nd). The Redhounds fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 37-34 on Friday. Redhounds fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Golden Eagles since Friday.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Harlan County's offense. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of South Laurel. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Black Bears were not able to get on the board.

Harlan County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Corbin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Corbin against Harlan County in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the team secured a 55-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redhounds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
