Recap: St. Ignatius Wildcats vs. Medina Battling Bees

The St. Ignatius Wildcats took care of business in their home opener on Saturday (and then some). They blew past Medina, posting a 79-52 victory at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Ignatius also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.

St. Ignatius was led to victory by Quinn Woidke and Jack Zapolnik. Woidke scored 19 points along with 3 steals, while Zapolnik scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Reece Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.

Medina's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JT Mog, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Beech, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.

St. Ignatius' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Medina, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

St. Ignatius will be playing at home against Louisville at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Louisville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Medina, they will head out on the road to face off against Cleveland Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
