It was a good run, but Avon Park unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 80-64 bruising from the Discovery Spartans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), the Red Devils still had to take the loss.

Avon Park's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayvion Jones, who posted 20 points and six boards. Damari Cohen was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Avon Park's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-2. As for Discovery, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.

Avon Park and Discovery should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Avon Park will square off against McLaughlin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 588 places (205 vs. 793). Avon Park is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Discovery (ranked 103rd) will meet Haines City (ranked 314th) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
