Softball Recap: Olympian Takes Down Coronado in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Olympian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Coronado Islanders by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in April.

The result came thanks to Alexandra Perez's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacqui De Murguia, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Mendiola, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Olympian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-12-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Coming up, Olympian is taking a road trip to face off against Coastal Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stingrays have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
