Baseball Recap: Spring Mountain Takes a Loss

Spring Mountain had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Tonopah Muckers, falling 18-4. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 22-5 to the Muckers when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Tonopah, their record now sits at 11-5. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Tonopah's part, Alex Avelar made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Avelar has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Brekken Miller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Drew Otteson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tonopah beat Spring Mountain by a score of 22-0 later that day.
