Spring Mountain had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Tonopah Muckers, falling 18-4. For Tonopah's part, Alex Avelar made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Avelar has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
