Baseball Recap: Linn Takes a Loss

Linn had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 10-16 to make it eight. They came up short against the St. Elizabeth Hornets, falling 10-0. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for St. Elizabeth, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

For St. Elizabeth's part, Aiden Otto looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Otto has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Carter Reinkemeyer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Linn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-3 victory against Russellville on the 13th. As for St. Elizabeth, they have also already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Prairie Home on the 13th.
