Basketball Recap: Mount Dora Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After a string of three wins, Mount Dora Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 42-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boone Braves. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Braves are ranked 384th).

When it comes to explaining why Mount Dora Christian Academy lost, don't look at Cassi Monn. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine blocks. The dominant performance gave Monn a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Demi Gabbidon, who posted nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Naima Durandisse, who put up seven points in addition to 12 boards and four steals. Durandisse is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elina Del Rosario, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Boone, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Mount Dora Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-18 victory against Foundation Academy on the 17th. As for Boone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-36 loss against Harmony on the 17th.
