Basketball Recap: Waterloo Comes Up Short

After flying high against Gibault Catholic last Monday, Waterloo came back down to earth. The Waterloo Bulldogs fell just short of the Civic Memorial Eagles by a score of 49-47 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Eagles are ranked 37th).

Waterloo has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for Civic Memorial, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-6.

Coming up, Waterloo will look to defend their home court on February 14th against Jersey at 6:00 p.m. As for Civic Memorial, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-41 win against Pleasant Plains on the 8th.
