Baseball Recap: Keystone Panthers vs. Moniteau Warriors
Keystone kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 17-0 walloping at the hands of the Moniteau Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Keystone of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Moniteau's part, Beau Stewart tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Moniteau got a massive performance out of Keagan Book, who went 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and a run. Ian Ross was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base.
The win got Moniteau back to even at 2-2.
Keystone will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Otto-Eldred at 12:00 p.m. As for Moniteau, they will head out on the road to square off against Punxsutawney at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Moniteau is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
