Softball Recap: Pike Road Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pike Road had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Park Crossing Thunderbirds. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kennedy Thompson and Ava Milton did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Milton went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Thompson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasyn Wilson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.

Pike Road always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Pike Road's fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-22. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Park Crossing, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Pike Road will face off against Rehobeth at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Park Crossing does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
