It was a Battle of the Birds when Lake Minneola duked it out with South Lake on Thursday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Lake Minneola's got stronger as the match went on, holding South Lake to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-16, 25-14.

When it comes to explaining why South Lake lost, don't look at Ava Fedorovich. Despite the final result, she had nine digs and three assists.

The victory got Lake Minneola back to even at 1-1. As for South Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Minneola will take on West Orange in a tournament on Saturday. As for South Lake, they will head out to face off against Leesburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
