Softball Recap: Monroe Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Monroe waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Marysville Getchell a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Vivian Knuckey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Izzy Webster, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .812. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Monroe now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Marysville Getchell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coming up, Monroe will head out on the road to challenge Meadowdale at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.55 runs per game on average), something the Bearcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marysville Getchell, they will be playing at home against Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Seagulls will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
