Exeter dropped their record down to 16-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Washington Union Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Monarchs of the 11-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Tanner Garnett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

As for Washington Union, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Washington Union's side, the team relied heavily on Cole Roth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Roth has posted since back in March.

While Exeter had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
