Basketball Recap: Johnson Atomsmashers vs. Long County Blue Tide

The Johnson Atomsmashers were the 59-56 winner over the Long County Blue Tide when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. Johnson took a 83-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Tide on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Johnson's loss came despite strong showings from Joshua Quarterman and Favion Kirkwood. Quarterman dropped a double-double on 40 points and ten rebounds, while Kirkwood scored 28 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quarterman has scored all season.

Johnson's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Long County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Johnson will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Liberty County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Long County, they and the Bulldogs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Beach is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
