Jasper proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Liberal Bulldogs, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Bulldogs since September 18, 2021.
Jasper had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 15-25, 14-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-13.
Alivea Roberts paced Jasper's offense, picking up 21 kills. Roberts got some help from Lexi Rice and her 20 assists.
Despite the loss, Liberal saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braylen Frieden had 20 digs and one assist. Frieden is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last nine games she's played.
Jasper now has a winning record of 14-13-3. As for Liberal, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-8.
As of now, neither Jasper nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
