Baseball Recap: Peabody's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

Peabody took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Elizabeth, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Peabody Warhorses sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Elizabeth Bulldogs on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warhorses as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak.

Daylen Gatson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Peabody's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 0-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Freddie Byrd was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Malik Armstead, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Peabody's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Elizabeth, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peabody will host Neville on Friday. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up.
