Baseball Recap: Twentynine Palms Gets the Win

Twentynine Palms hadn't done well against Yucca Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Trojans a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Wildcats have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jandell Jiminez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Twentynine Palms is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Jiminez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anthony Gabriel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Keli'I ( Bubba ) Corney also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Twentynine Palms was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Twentynine Palms now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Yucca Valley, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

As of now, neither Twentynine Palms nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
